Finally, I not only got to see it in the wild but also had the chance to photograph this beautiful Great-Horned Owl. These were taken at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge in Willows, CA, on August 16, 2026, around dusk.

This series of photos I took of a red-shouldered hawk regurgitating something. Taken at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge in Willows, CA.

Note: Nothing, including the background, has been removed from these images. It was an overcast day, and I was slightly lower than it.

To give you an idea of how small this Margined Calligrapher Fly is, the entire flower is roughly the size of a nickel.

These are a mated pair of Mute Swans. Taken at Rancho Seco Recreational Area. The lake sits next to the decommissioned Rancho Seco Nuclear Power Plant. Yes, it's perfectly safe there.

Ladybugs, ladybugs, and more ladybugs! The first one won 2nd place in the Documentary/Narrative category at the Spring Show Award at Sierra College. It was also jury-selected for the Student Photography Expo at Action Camera in Rocklin, CA. It and the second one were taken at the Sierra College campus in Rocklin, CA.

The 2nd one was taken in Rio Linda, CA.

The next 2 were taken in Butte Canyon, CA.

The rest were taken on Dec. 25, 2024, near Pulga, CA, along Highway 70 in the Feather River Canyon. There had to have been thousands of them.

Won 2nd place in the category, Documentary/Narritive, at the Spring Show Award Contest for Sierra College. It is currently displayed on a photography department banner until 2027.

These are cyanotypes. The two flower images show the difference between using different types of paper. The first one is an 8x10. The last one is 16x20. The image in the middle shows the difference between the old cyanotype shades and the new.
